Ep #9: Casper ter Kuile

OK. This is our favourite Lifefulness podcast so far. Start here. We love the other shows but this was special. Why? Because we changed the format to make it more loosey-goosey, a bit sillier.

You get all the deep chat, all the dramatic life-changing insights AND dumb jokes.

Our Guest is Casper Ter Kuile

Casper Ter Kuile is super fun and…. at the heart of an emergent movement of practitioners who are reinventing and revitalising spiritual practices. Casper was a climate activist in his twenties but ended up at Harvard Divinity School in his 30s, because he thought that the issues society was facing needed to be tackled at a more fundamental level.

In 2015 he and his collaborator Angie Thurston wrote a report called ‘How We Gather’ which looked at how millennials (Gen Z didn’t exist then) were meeting their spiritual needs in places like Cross Fit, Soul Cycle and lil ol' Sunday Assembly - and that's when Casper and I got to know each other.

After this he became a Ministry Innovation Fellow at Harvard before starting the Sacred Design Lab which advises companies, non-profits and communities on how to create soul, meaning and belonging at work.

This year he released the book The Power of Ritual which looks at how we can reimagine religious ritual to create meaning and connection in our lives.

Our Conversation

CTK combines a passion and love for religious questions and experiences with a deeply searching mind.

We explore:

  • How you can introduce the benefits of religion and spirituality into your life, even if you’re not religious

  • How you can use ritual to bring soul to the workplace

  • How you can respectfully adapt religious practices

  • The dangers of bringing meaningful practices into the workplace

You'll love it.
