The sh*t changes lives.

“I've never had support, encouragement, authenticity, safety, acceptance, and positive energy like I get with this group from anywhere else before.

Lifefulness actually does what other communities have always claimed to do.”

Lifefulness started with a question…

15 years ago, I was standing in a Christmas Carol Service and thought there’s so much about this that I love - singing, community, joy, connection - I’m just not religious at all.

The question came to mind:

Could you create something like church that celebrates the one incredible thing we all have in common: life itself?

The First Lifefulness Communities

In 2013 with my friend and co-founder Pippa Evans (another comedian) I founded Sunday Assembly - a movement of non-religious congregations that celebrate life.

We found a way to adapt the techniques of the spiritual community and congregation so that everyone could get involved.

The communities were celebrating life, so Lifefulness seemed like the perfect word for the practice we developed.

The Lifefulness Project

The Lifefulness Project was set up so that anyone in the world could take part in Lifefulness - even if there wasn’t a Lifefulness community near you.

We started with connection and discussion groups because these gatherings are so powerful.

After running pilots in 2020 and early 2021 we’re now opening them up to everyone - including you!

Join Our Mission.

Small groups are also the ideal building blocks for our big mission: tackling the crisis in meaning and belonging.

Once there’s a critical mass of community members in your area, we will start in-person communities dedicated to connection and purpose.

Thanks for taking part!

Have your own questions? Here’s our FAQs

What is lifefulness?

Lifefulness is a practice dedicated to helping you live a 'lifeful' life, full of vitality, aliveness and zest. The practice adapts the techniques of the spiritual community in a way that everyone can take part.

Just as mindfulness adapted the techniques of Buddhist meditation, and yoga comes from Hindhu 'hatha' yoga. A simple analogy is that lifefulness is to congregation as mindfulness is to meditation.

Is this religious?

No. Lifefulness is a secular and scientific approach that can be used by atheists, agnostics, religious, and spiritual alike.

Is this a cult?

No. Our member do love it, rave about it to their friends, and find connections for life here but I'm afraid we're not that glamourous. We're just a community-building social enteprise trying to do our bit.

Can anyone join?

Yes. We welcome all who welcome all - and we really mean that.

Obviously, if you then act in a way that is unwelcoming that will lead to some serious conversations. We only get to create joyful community if everyone feels safe.

Is this legit?

Yes. Sanderson Jones is an internationally recognised, award winning social entrepreneur who was elected to the prestigious Ashoka Fellowship. The Lifefulness Project has worked with major brands, and also delivers wellbeing programmes for the NHS. In 2020 we were recognised as one of Facebook's Top 100 Social Impact Communities.

We're a reverse mullet of an organisation: party at the front, work at the back.

We welcome all, who welcome all.

We’d love to welcome you.

Join our community of inspiring people who will energise, support and hold you to account.

Membership costs £9.99 per month.
